  1. "Texting" with your AI learning buddy

The same way Duolingo and others allow for "streak freezes" which are a form of lenience on the routine of practice, I think it would be cool if LL allowed you to (maybe 3 times a month) use a "joker" to text with your AI avatars (or texting a loop provides waaaay less points/coins or something). Not as a replacement for speaking, but moreso for: the times when you can't speak out loud for 8 minutes and it's easier to textlearning how to text in general (my wife pointed out she can speak really well in German but can't text cause of the accents, same in Spanish)

  2. Pronunciation Feedback

I want the game to give me immediate feedback on my pronunciation, so that I can learn from my mistakes and feel more assured that I'm speaking correctly.

  3. School Location

I want a dedicated 'school level' in the game that focuses specifically on practicing various aspects of grammar, so that I can target my weak points, understand grammatical structures better, and become more proficient in using the language correctly.

  4. Higher-level feedback

Right now we already have nice granular feedback on each line of a conversation, but it can sometimes be a little daunting to step through and review everything step by step. It would be really nice to also get feedback on the conversation as a whole - pointing out things like common repeated mistakes, monotony, and anything else that takes the full conversation into account. I am thinking something more longform than the grammar and fluency scores we currently get - more like text-based AI-generated critique. Likewise, feedback on all conversations that you've had so far could also be really interesting to keep an eye on overall progress. (In the interim, being able to export our conversations to do this ourselves could also work!)

  6. Vocabulary Trainer

I often struggle to remember and use new words. I want a vocabulary trainer that's part of the game, so that it becomes easier for me to learn, recall, and confidently use a wider range of words in my conversations.

  7. Phone Call Mode

It would be interesting to practice shorter phone calls; order, make appointments, etc...

  8. Create Your Own Characters

I often want to tell the character who to be so that it’ll be directly applicable to my life. That would be so amazing. For example, I haven’t met a kid character yet and I wanted to practice telling the kids I teach chorus that I learned a bit of their language and to try teaching in the language. The Free Talk is nice because you can choose to talk about music for example, but the character won’t pretend to be 5 and in a music class for you. Anyway, I understand if that’s too hard to implement and I appreciate the space to make suggestions!

  9. Download all transcripts for a language

It would be great to be able to download all transcripts for a language, to be able to review and study them later!

  10. Speaking vs Listening Mode

I want the game to let me choose whether I practise speaking or listening comprehension. In listening mode, the avatar would speak 80% of the time. In speech mode, I would speak most of the time.

  12. Salon/Barber Location

I think this would be useful because many people go to a hair salon/barber shop regularly. A language barrier is also very stressful at a salon or barber shop, and it requires some specialized vocabulary if you want a specific thing done. You could make it just hair, or you could have different people there that talk about nail and spa stuff too in order to add some variety to it.

  13. Explanation of the point-scoring system

I can see when my points increase, but I don't understand the mechanism behind the system. More immediate responses, yes - I understand that feeds into the score I get, but even if I know I've butchered the pronunciation of a word, I still get a good score. A breakdown of why I get what I get would be amazing (even if it's just an FAQ).

  14. Celebrity avatars (historical figures)

Ask Einstein to explain the theory of relativity in German, chat with Edith Piaf about what inspired her songs in French or have a conversation with Astrid Lindgren and tell her what you think about her famous Swedish children's stories. Broaden your cultural and historical knowledge in your target language in a fun and interesting way.

  15. New City: Hong Kong (Cantonese) πŸ‡πŸ‡°

Cantonese is often overlooked and not included in most language apps. However, it’s spoken by over 85 million people with wide distribution in cities across North America and Europe. A strong community exists to preserve this language and a need to pass it on to younger generations.
